Meet this Winter's SEAD Intern, Mrynna!

Hi SEAD family!

My name is Mrynna Cervantes and I am the SEAD Winter Intern at East Boston High School. I am so excited to meet all the students and their families. I hope that over my ten weeks at EBHS I am able to support you as best as I can, both academically and personally. I will be at school starting this Friday, Jan 9th! I look forward to being available for schoolwork help, college search advice, or just a friendly chat!

So that you have a better idea of who I am, here is a little info!
I grew up in El Centro, CA, a small farming community in the California desert about 10 miles from the Mexican border. I attended a high school that has various similarities to EBHS. It will be interesting for me to see in exactly what areas the two differ and overlap. I am currently a junior at Dartmouth, with a major in government and a minor in education. My future plans are constantly changing, but for now I see myself going into teaching for a few years after graduation. I hope to then attend graduate school to earn a master’s or PHD in ethnic studies curriculum. The end goal for me would be working at a non-profit type of organization that was devoted to spreading and implementing an ethnic studies curriculum across schools.
As a way to de-stress, I must admit I am an avid TV watcher. It is a little embarrassing at times, but the list of shows I keep up with only grows after each break I get from school. If you love a TV show, please let me know! I would love to either gush over it with you or put it on my “must watch” list. I have recently become interested in knitting, which I have a feeling will come in handy during this cold Northeast winter. I also love to read, especially books by authors like Jodi Picoult, Sarah Dessen, and John Green. My tastes air more to the side of “young adult” novels; they’re so entertaining!

Students, I hope to learn about your interests and background too over the next 10 weeks!
Parents, please feel free to reach out to me at anytime!

See you soon,

Mrynna
