Final Count Down!

The end of Quarter 1 has finally come and the seniors are buckling down for the final stretch. Many of the students are working to makeup assignments and and study for their final exams. I am hosting tutoring sessions during this week for all students to make sure that they finish all their assignments and have adequate time to study for their finals.

Shout out to Jakara who has really kicked butt and pulled up her grades substantially. GO GIRL!

The students are in the final throws of completing all FASFA and CSS profiles and although many of them are tired of the college application process they are really finishing up strong. I am really proud of the work that all the students are doing, they are really putting their best foot forward.

Many of the students are looking forward to the the small reunion myself and the Raymond Intern are planning at Dave and Busters the weekend of February 20th.

Let It Snow...Money!

After the long holiday weekend, the students came back refreshed and ready to finish up the college application process. Pamela and Denise have completely finished all aspects of their college application process and are just working on their scholarships! All the other SEAD students should be done by the end of the week and be able to focus on getting scholarships for their schools.

Two students, Alex and Miguel have been accepted into colleges over the weekend and were proud to share their success with the SEAD team. We are looking forward to more students hearing back from their colleges.

I am planning an all day trip for the SEAD students to Dave and Busters on February 19th. Most of the students have expressed excitement and interest in the trip.

The goal is to have all students done with the application process before the next big snow storm this weekend!!! After that all the students will be applying for scholarships!!!

Brace for the cold!!!

Newbie

Three days into Eastie and the nerves are gone! I am really happy to be here and get to know the students. There are some really colorful characters here which I love. I have had the chance to meet with almost everyone, but we will see each other later today. The scholars and I have started our one on one meetings and setting up STUDY HALL! It is great to see that many of the students are on top of the grades or know how to improve them. This is a really independent lot and they are going to do great in college.

I have some really cool stuff planned with the students like Dave and Busters, movies, museums, HUZZAH Tavern Nights (historical reenactment) and college visits for this winter. I look forward to telling you'll more soon!

Cheers,

Chrissy

Hey Eastie!

Hello All!
My name is Christina “Chrissy” Ragin. I am a junior at Dartmouth College and this winter’s SEAD intern. I am a History major at Dartmouth with a minor in Theatre Arts. I am 21 years old and from Washington Heights in Manhattan, New York. I am the head of the Black Underground Theatre Association (BUTA) and on the executive board of the African American Society. In my free time I am a part of Prison Project at Dartmouth where groups of students lead creative writing workshops with inmates in the Vermont area. I am very passionate about teaching and criminal law. Consequently, I have participated in a number of internships in New York Charter schools and New York law firms. I also enjoy swimming making clothes and classic books.
I have had the pleasure of meeting the students at the reunion in the fall and look forward to getting to know them better on a personal level especially as you begin a new chapter and the end of your senior year!! This term will come with many important decisions for families and students and I hope to be a good and reliable resource starting on THURSDAY, JANUARY 8th, 2016. Feel totally free to come by the office on Friday, I cannot wait to see you guys! I am available all the time via text, call or email. So please don’t be afraid to contact me outside of school for any questions!!!
